History

Pastor Eric and Kathie Oleson met, married, and ministered for ten years at Bethany Church in Long Beach, California. In 1993, they moved to Huntington Beach where Eric joined ShoreLife Church as the Executive Pastor. As that church went through a transition in 1999, Eric sensed that he was also in transition. One night, as the couple prayed and asked God for the direction to go--or the peace to stay--God showed up, revealing that they were simultaneously going (to start a new church) and staying (in Huntington Beach.)

God’s House launched January 14, 2001, meeting at Huntington Beach High School for the next eight years, and at several other venues until now.

Despite its smaller size (about 100 people on a Sunday morning,) GHHB has had an oversized ministry impact: the church has sent hope and help across the globe, from Haiti to Ghana, Indonesia, Russia, Japan and Zambia. The people helped build a church facility in Ensenada, spread love all over the world through Operation Christmas Child and most recently, funded the building of TWO fresh-water wells to help save lives overseas. Locally, God's House was instrumental in initiating the community-wide Easter Sunrise Community Worship at the Pier, founded (with many others) Horizon Pregnancy Clinic, support Collette’s House with new bed sheets, do random acts of kindness at the US Open of Surfing, and have launched multiple young people into seminary and full-time ministry.

Significant distinctives of GHHB are passionate worship, intensely personal and practical biblical messages, and a continued commitment to empowering, launching and coaching people into ministry.
